Right, well... I stand up and move out of the flames.

What he said, but my character's doing it.

Alright, you two are now out of the fire. In the flames (Nut_Column) succeeded in his perception check, Nut_Column sees a chest within the wreckage.

I check for traps.

I leave, getting out of the wreckage.
"Where... am I?" Tsubasa asked himself. "A name for myself would be nice too."

Nut_Column:
you find no traps

Agentaaa:
you can see smoke way off in the distance to the north

"smoke... to the north? A fire?" Tsubasa says, looking back towards the rogues. "I'll deal with it in a second... after I see what that rogue over there is up to.

I open up the chest, taking care not to burn myself on any hot metal.

Nut_Column: You find the map fragment inside along with -3000gp (negative 3000 gp). Which just looks like a dark blur to you.

Agentaaa: The rogue has just opened up a chest when a man comes running down the sand dune toward you.

I take the fragment. (If I take the -GP, could I Later Place it in someone's inventory? Or would I be stuck with it?) Also, I look around for any bodies to loot, Living or dead.

I take my eyes off the rogue, and pay attention to the man in front of me
"where are you going in such a hurry?" I ask the man.

Nut_Column: the -gp looks like a shadow that has mass and you can pick it up

Agentaaa: "Please help us! We are like lamb to the slaughter before the horde of Sybil!" he shouts in hysterics. The man is very clearly distraught and scared.

I pick up the GP and (Assuming I heard talking) Head towards the two men.
"You know, I always liked the word Slaughter. It rolls off the tongue so very well." *mumbles slaughter a few times and chuckles* "Anyhoo, What are we talking about? What is a Sybil?"

"calm down, man! What's invading! And where?" I respond, putting my hand on his shoulder.

Agentaaa & Nut_Column: The man attempts to bat your hand away but *rolls a d20* fails to because of your strength, he calms down slightly. "Sybil is a very eEevil person who intends to destroy the continent with his hideous army, should we fail to defend we shall become a part of his fighting forces! They come in the night and use fire to make sure you are afraid! Then their airships decimate the city's defences and then their first assault begins!" *rolls a d20* The man begins having a panic attack after appearing to remember something overwhelmingly terrifying.

"Darn, and I just threw out my last paper bag." I look to the swordsman beside me. "Do you have anything that will make him shut up?"

Tsubasa leans a bit, so that his height is not quite as apparent, and says "There's nothing to worry about anymore. I am a powerful warrior, and I promise you, I shall do all in my power to end this menace, and bring peace to your village."
Tsubasa then points backwards, saying "And I'm betting he'll help, given that he'd be lost if he went in any other direction."

"Well, Geez, way to force the issue. I guess I'll help if you Insist on dragging me into it. I expect some major compensation by the end of this though..."
*inner monologue* 'Sides, I wanna learn more about this Sybil character. If he can send someone into a fit just by being mentioned... Maybe we could compare notes... *chuckles*

"and I expect little to none, so this temporary partnership will work out well... Rogue, I'm guessing. It takes a certain kind of person to be more interested in a chest than a screaming man."

The man is still terrified but his breathing slows slightly. "I don't know how we can possibly repay you but if you save the city from ruin, you can know that you have protected an entire populace from certain annihilation!"

"Indeed, but enough of this chatter. It's time to find us some slaughter to study." As I head off toward the smoke, I stop and turn. "Just a concern, is this army still attacking?"

"Yes! Of course they are! That's why we need your help!!!"

"Of course, how silly of me. Right, onwards, to VICTORY! (And Money)"
