Altair Mythology (FW: UC)

There are several religions and legends found in the Altair Galaxy, some mystical, others alien in nature. (Literally.) From the Primitus being called gods or demons to legends of beasts being summoned from the skies, these legends abound and archeologists and historians often have a tough time piecing together this very elaborate puzzle.

Vires, God of Power
AKA: The Golden God, The Dragon Lord, The Timeless Ancient

Often the most common myth found mostly in the northern part of the galaxy, surprisingly little is known about this god aside from that which could be found in the Auridiestic churches. What has been able to be pieced together is that Vires is a benevolent entity often affiliated with that of other heroes or of the divinely inclined. He also seems to take on the form of a golden-energetic being, as far as historians have deciphered of the old language.

His most famous tale is that of the Primitus miracle. Vires is accredited with empowering the slaves of the Primitus empire and aiding them with his angelic army, casting down a great evil and the Primitus empire. Though obvious doubt is sustained, it is surprising to most historians how accurate it actually is. The angels mentioned in the myths are actually, as the Primitus records indicate, Arkhein, Primitus super soldiers. And the ruins abounding the galaxy and lack of Primitus, as well as records pointing to a former empire that had most of the galaxy enslaved, also lends a hand to this myth. However, no recovered evidence points to the existance of this god, leading many researchers to believe that the person was likely an Arkhein himself.

Eyes of God

The name was loosely translated from older Concordian Records, but the myth behind it proved far more interesting. The "Eyes of God" appeared to be gifts from the god Vires, and were immensely powerful mystical artifacts that, as the legend goes, was able to extinguish or create life on a massive scale. However, the myth also states that these gifts were mistreated, and soon were lost to humanity. This myth is often held in doubt due to the fact that no other evidence has appeared to support the existence of these mystical objects. Only mythological stories.

The True Runes

These supreme mystical objects are rarely mentioned in mythologies, but as far as the recovered Primitus records would indicate, were symbols of incredible power. Infinite, in theory, to be accurate. Very little is known of these objects other than their theorized affiliation with an extinct race that was even older than the Primitus themselves.

The Ancients

Though a rather uncreative name, the Ancients were an extinct race that was around far before the first Primitus Empire arrived in Altair. Immensely little is known about them, but the ruins of their city remain as a testament to their existence. What makes them unique, however, is that while the ruins are of a similar Grecco-Roman design to us on Earth, they can be found on multiple worlds across the galaxy. Sometimes even in the most unforgiving of environments. This phenomenon is also furthered upon in the fact that no definite age profiling could be completed as the ruins were in near-perfect condition. No overgrown plants, no ruined buildings, few signs of age, and yet no detectable mystical enchantments. This mystery confounds historians and archeologists, as it flies in the face of reality.

Nirn Mythologies

Several of the religious believes found on New Vega have striking parallels with Aurideism, though it is uncertain how this came to be or the true relationship between them. Nirn Myths often include dragons, gods, usually known as the Nine Divines, and various other legends often coinciding with a mystical object known as an Elder Scroll. While no Elder Scroll has been discovered, and the ones that were reportedly found are either missing or worse, researchers are at a loss as to what these myths really mean and what really happened.

Gal'Gai Religion

The Gal'Gai worship one and only one god known as Thondarr. Researchers have also heard him known as the "Father of All" or something to that effect. Translators are still working on deciphering the Gal'Gai language known as Alska. What is known is that he (assuming gender based on acquired knowledge) has one well-known artifact linked to him. This is known as the Wall of Thondarr. As it turns out, this 'Wall' is actually a Primitus artifact of extraordinary knowledge. Thondarr's religion also strikes amazing parallels to Aurideism again, as Vires is the only god in that pantheon, and most of the others are either 'demigods' or 'chosen heroes.' This leads researchers to believe that the Gal'Gai were also a slave race, even before such was actually made public knowledge when they inquired a random bystander of the SRI. (Facepalms ensued.) This religion would also seem to teach a discipline of acceptance of the past, a discipline also mimicked in Auridiesm, as the Gal'Gai and the SRI at large do not seem to be alarmed at any 'insane' discoveries of their past beyond that of Thondarr's Wall.

Spirits

The Spirits, the Turian believe, are entities of either dead Turians or perhaps more. Not much information exists about them. What does stand out is that of the Spirit of Creation, the creator of Palaven, and a form of afterlife based on an honor system. Aside from that, very little can be gleamed without extensive study and cross-referencing.

Sajuuk

What has been learned about the Hiigaran beliefs is that they used to believe that Sajuuk was a god that created the galaxy at large. Once they learned that it was actually a massive dreadnought designed for extensive and destructive warfare, researchers are unsure as to the status of this religion. The person that is chosen by Sajuuk is known as the Sajuuk-Khar, a title that only one Hiigaran has claimed, one Karan Sjet.

Spirit of Aves

While drawing interesting parallels on the name alone to the Turian belief, the Spirit of Aves is known as the mother to the Avians, and a god of sorts. However, the Spirit of Aves apparently is to inhabit the planet at large, not some separate ending, and each Avian is linked to this spirit perpetually, and returns to 'her' upon death. Most interesting is that there are also stories of heroes chosen by Aves and prophets, once again, drawing parallels with Auridiesm and other religions. However, there is no evidence that the Avians were once a slave race.
